What a fabulous event, even better than last year's inaugural ball! The Art Deco Society of Virginia held their second Jazz Age Preservation Ball, sponsored by Bygones Vintage Clothing - a lavish evening of music, dancing and gaiety celebrating the red hot Jazz Age of the Roaring '20s. Guests were invited to dress to the nines and join the festivities at the historic beaux arts styled Bolling Haxall House in Richmond, Virginia.
The Blue Crescent Syncopators, led by Craig Gildner, provided live music, Mike Herring danced a wonderful tap routine, and The Garter Snaps teased and titillated with a fun burlesque performance. Andy Nishida and Rita Shiang taught a beginner Charleston dance lesson at the start of the evening, and the specialty cocktail was the Hanky Panky.
The gala is designed to raise awareness and funds for Art Deco preservation projects in the Commonwealth, and this year’s benefactor is the Byrd Theater Foundation.
