Almost every year in the middle of December, Chartwell Booksellers, in the Park Avenue Plaza Building, hosts a wonderful free music and dance event, with music by Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks - you know them from various soundtracks, including "Empire Boardwalk" and "The Aviator". Local swing dancers come out in force, many dressed in fashion to match the era of the music. This year, we also had the pleasure of celebrating the 90th Birthday of Mr. Sol Yaged, a clarinet player and legend in the jazz world.
In addition to the live music, there is a gorgeous automated teddy bear holiday display in the plaza - this year's display was created by Lou Nasti of Mechanical Displays.
It's a fun afternoon for young and old, whether you dance or not.
