Twice a year, on two weekends in summer, Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra host a fabulous event, the Jazz Age Lawn Party, on Governor's Island. Vintage clad revelers take the ferry (either from Manhattan or Brooklyn) and stroll to the enclosure, claiming a picnic spot under the trees. And for the afternoon, it's as though they travel back in time to enjoy the hot jazz of Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra, as well as Gelber and Manning's band. There's a fantastic 50'x50' dance floor, a dance lesson (if you need it!), dance performances, classic cars to view, a pie contest, tug-of-war, vintage swimsuit parade, and access to vintage-selling vendors, St. Germain Cocktails and food! It's a fun time for all, young and old!
